Sumatra - Double Vaughn Dutch - 25 lb Box

We named this lot after our founding partner and Hanson brothers' uncle, Vaughn Neblock. He started with the Folgers Coffee Company in Kansas city in 1945 when he was 18 years old. By 1958, he had become the head green buyer. He trained many specialty coffee pioneers (including the Hanson brothers) in how to cup coffees properly. He was a true visionary in quality control and always had a fondness for Sumatran coffees so we named our regional select after him. In the past Sumatran coffees have been burdened by the old stereotype of being dirty and earthy and only suitable for darker profiles. That's not true these days, and if you're brave enough to play around with lighter profiles and this coffee, you might be really surprised by how yummy it is! We buy this coffee and are cupping offers year round so that it is always in stock. It makes an excellent cold brew base and espresso component as well.
