This coffee comes to us from Goro Bedessa, a small village in the Hambela Wamena district of Guji. This area is well known for producing excellent coffees, and this one was a pleasure to discover while cupping the batch of samples sent by our suppliers. While many Ethiopian naturals have shifted away from the intense fruit profiles of earlier decades, this lot is a return to classic Guji character. The berry aromatics were unmistakable as blackberry, and deep purple tones paired with a pleasant butteriness. The flavor is equally expressive, with a red jammy sweet type of acidity and a pastry‑icing finish that lingered beautifully, even as the cup cooled. This is a standout natural that deserves a place in any roaster’s berry‑forward African offerings.
