This natural from Dimtu City in the Guji zone of Hambela Wamena is one of the most fruit‑driven coffees we’ve tasted this season. Produced by 282 farming families delivering to the Dimtu Washing Station—up from 205 last year—this lot reflects both the growth of the community and the continued commitment to quality under the management of KANYA Coffee. With KANYA overseeing processing all the way through their facilities in Addis Ababa, the coffee maintains full traceability from farm to export. Farmers receive 5–10% above the daily cherry price, and KANYA reinvests in the region through support for schools, medical care, and infrastructure, strengthening the communities behind the coffee. While many Ethiopian naturals have shifted away from the intense fruit profiles of earlier decades, this lot is a return to classic Guji character. From the cupping table, the berry aromatics are unmistakable—red fruits, blackberry, and deep purple tones. The flavor is equally expressive, with a syrupy, berry‑saturated sweetness and a pastry‑icing finish that lingers beautifully, even as the cup cools. This is a standout natural that deserves a place in any roaster’s berry‑forward African offerings.
