This coffee comes from Huehuetenango, a high‑elevation region in western Guatemala near the Mexican border. Its name, derived from the Nahuatl phrase meaning “place of the ancients,” reflects the deep history and rugged terrain that define this part of the highlands. The region’s unique combination of altitude, dry winds, and protected valleys creates ideal conditions for producing washed coffees with sweetness, clarity, and lively acidity. This regional select is built from the work of smallholder producers who deliver ripe cherry to their local dry mill, where they receive premium payments on the spot. Our team cups multiple day lots throughout the harvest, selecting and assembling them into a consistent profile year after year. The result is a coffee that performs reliably across a wide range of applications—drip, espresso, blends, or as a standalone single origin. In the cup, expect a sweet, structured profile with nutty and caramel aromatics, a pastry‑crust warmth, and flavors of brûléed fruit, lemon brightness, and smooth caramel. It’s a quietly dependable cornerstone coffee—balanced, versatile, and ready to shine wherever you need it.
