The Chirinos Cooperative, founded in 1968 by 36 producers, is one of the most respected anchors of Peru’s northern Andes coffee sector. Based in Jaén, Cajamarca, the cooperative has spent decades elevating Peru’s reputation in the specialty market through rigorous training, organic agronomy, and community‑driven quality programs. Membership grants producers access to organic composting systems and a nutrient‑rich fertilizer made using the Colombian gaicashi method—developed with the guidance of the coop’s resident agronomists. With careful, supervised management, member families consistently produce high‑yield lots of Bourbon, Caturra, and Typica, all without the use of pesticides.
