Sourced from the renowned coffee-growing regions of Tanzania's Southern Highlands, this Mutwari Peaberry is produced by approximately 50 smallholder farmers across the Mbozi, Mbeya Rural, Ileje, and Rungwe districts. Farmers carefully harvest ripe cherries and perform depulping and washing at the farm level before delivery to Tembo Coffee Company, where the coffee is prepared for export. Tanzania is one of the world's most recognized origins for peaberry coffee. A peaberry develops when a coffee cherry produces a single rounded seed rather than the typical two flat-sided beans. These naturally occurring beans are prized for their density, uniformity, and concentrated cup character. This lot showcases the classic profile that has made Tanzanian peaberries a favorite among specialty coffee roasters. Aromas of pastry crust, buttered toast, and cucumber lead into a balanced cup featuring notes of caramel and bright citrus. A tangy acidity and full, wine-like body provide structure and complexity, creating a versatile coffee that performs well across a range of roast profiles.
