At origin

Tito Pichillla has been connected to coffee since childhood, trailing behind his mother through the fields of Fraijanes and playing among the pickers during harvest. After decades of hard work, he purchased Finca El Silencio in 1990—fulfilling the dream he carried since those early days. Today, he manages the farm with a deep sense of stewardship, working the land largely by hand and clearing weeds with machetes to avoid herbicides and protect the surrounding ecosystem. El Silencio sits beneath the shade of oak, pine, cypress, cuje, and banana trees, creating a cool, filtered‑light environment ideal for slow, even cherry maturation. During harvest, Tito employs a team of up to 15 workers and their families, many of whom return year after year. Watching these families grow alongside the farm reinforces his commitment to uplifting the land, the plants, and the people who make the work possible. Producing roughly 65 sacks per year, this is a small but deeply intentional operation—and we are pleased to feature it as part of our Red Scorpion line this season. In the cup, El Silencio offers roasted‑almond, brown‑sugar, and pastry‑crust aromatics, leading into flavors of sweet corn, cola, and a fruit‑juice‑like body. The structure is smooth and balanced, with a gentle sweetness and a lively finish that reflects both the altitude and Tito’s meticulous hand‑worked approach.
