Guatemala - Red El Scorpion - Finca El Silencio - Tito Pichilla

Tito Pichillla has been working coffee since he was a young boy, when he trailed his mother through the fields of Fraijanes and played with the other children during harvest. After decades of hard work he purchased El Silencio in 1990 and has been living the dream of his childhood ever since. He works the land largely by hand clearing weeds with machetes to avoid using herbicides and protect the ecosystems on his farm. His beautiful coffee is grown under the shade of oak, pine, cypress, cuje and banana trees. During harvest he pays fair wages to a team of up to 15 workers and their families, many of whom come back year after year. Seeing these people he love bloom more each year further reinforces his commitment to uplifting the land, the plants, and the people of his believed home. He is able to produce around 65 sacks each year and we are pleased to be able to offer it as part of our Red Scorpion line this year.
