Tarrazú is one of Costa Rica's most respected coffee-growing regions and has long been recognized for producing coffees with exceptional clarity, sweetness, and balance. Grown at elevations between 1,300 and 1,600 MASL, the region's cool temperatures and mountainous terrain encourage slow cherry maturation, allowing complex sugars and acidity to fully develop. Situated in the interior highlands southwest of San José, Tarrazú benefits from rich volcanic soils, distinct wet and dry seasons, and ideal conditions for producing high-quality washed coffees year after year. Expect a bright, balanced cup with layered sweetness and a clean, structured finish. Aromas of fresh pastry crust, caramel, and sweet citrus lead into flavors of nougat, lemon tea, and toasted oats. The cup offers lively acidity, a smooth syrupy body, and a lingering sweetness that makes Tarrazú a dependable favorite for both single-origin programs and blends.
